ICPC starts at Dhaka today

The world's most prestigious computer programming competition International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) has started in Dhaka for the first time in Bangladesh. 137 teams from more than 70 countries will participate in the final stage (World Finals) of this competition known as the World Cup of Gramming. 8 teams are participating from Bangladesh. Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen will inaugurate the 45th session of ICPC on November 8 at Bashundhara International Convention Center in the capital. If the number is 4 here, the main competition will start on November 10 at 11 am. Various questions or problems have to be solved in this six-hour competition. The contest will be conducted by the ICPC Board of Judges. The entire competition will be held on computers with internet access. The team that solves the most problems will be declared the winner of the World Finals. As a prize, the winning team will receive the Champions Trophy, certificate and $15,000. The 12 teams with the highest regional marks will be awarded in various categories. The four teams with the highest marks will be awarded gold medals. There are silver medals for fifth to eighth places and bronze medals for ninth to twelfth places. Planning Minister MA Mannan will award the winners at the closing ceremony on December 11. Before this, a concert will be organized after completing the registration of the teams along with the rehearsal of the opening ceremony on November 7. The opening ceremony will be held on November 8. Rehearsal will be on November 9. This information was given in a press conference held in the conference room of ICT Tower on Sunday. Ranjit Kumar, executive director of Bangladesh Computer Council, gave a welcome speech at the press conference. Then spoke Andrey Ivanov, SVP of Investments and Vice President of Research and Education at JetBrain, co-host of the event; Vicky Zhang, Vice President of Corporate Communication Department of Huawei, Senior Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Department NM Zeaul Alam and University of Asia Pacific VC Kamrul Hasan. Expressing gratitude to sponsors and co-organizers, the President of ICPC Foundation Dr. William B. Boucher said, Bangladesh is doing well in ICT sector in the world. They are also doing well in ICPC under the auspices of Asia Pacific University. This competition enhances the skills of programmers. Makes them solution oriented.
